BOOTUP

There is currently a 2 - 5 million person talent gap in the tech industry today. By 2030, this gap is expected to reach over 85 million. By 2025, bootcamp and vocational school graduates will make up the largest entry level talent pipeline into tech. Google, Amazon, Facebook, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Microsoft are aware of these market trends and have begun hiring bootcamp graduates at scale, onboarding an average of 507 bootcamp graduates per company in 2020.

BOOTUP is offering practitioners of these technical skills a unique opportunity to cultivate insider knowledge. Services include, but are not limited to: Job postings, resume & interviewing help, a network of professionals, and financial aid services, regardless of non traditional education paths.

I ran a Competitive Analysis of BOOTUP’s peers and found a lot of similarities and areas to develop further. Not only did I look into Bootcamp pages, but also direct job board websites. After this, we had a Stakeholder meeting and a tech scope meeting where the client set the budget and expectations for this project.

Rapid Prototype #1

Rapid Prototype #2

After our discussion with the client I decided to focus on two features that stood out to me in the research.

The first being a comprehensive Job/Search Page feature that had multiple search filters, share, favorite and direct apply options, fewer, but more quality results, a glimpse into how many people had applied to a position, and how many current BOOTUP employees were working at said company.

The second feature was a simpler onboarding process for prospective candidates. The streamlined look, privacy policy, and pointed interest questions to better assist the candidates in finding the right position for them.

We received the raw data and were able to preform a Kano Analysis to determine which features were of most importance.
